March 28, 2003
Kerry’s Place Autism Services announces that Jim Timmins has been the successful applicant for the one-year contract position of Autism Consultant in Wellington County. Jim will be working as part of the Kerry's Place Autism Services Central West Community Services Team but will be based out of Wellington, the area being served with this position. Jim will be starting his employment with Kerry’s Place Autism Services on April 1st, 2003.
Jim brings to this position a wealth of experience and education. He has worked with the Guelph Wellington Association for Community Living for 13 years in various settings and has been involved in supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as individuals with a dual diagnosis. He has training and experience in Support Planning as well as the Accreditation Ontario Outcomes. Most importantly, Jim has a very clear understanding of the importance of dignity and respect for the individuals and supporting these values is a natural part of the way he interacts with people and when speaking about people. We are very pleased to welcome Jim as part of the team.
Wellington Needs Analysis Survey:
The response to the survey distributed throughout Wellington has been phenomenal. This information is very much appreciated and will help guide the services we provide in Wellington. As surveys are still coming in on a daily basis, we are going to extend the cut off date to April 15th.
Over the next few weeks Jim Timmins will be receiving orientation support to Kerry's Place Autism Services as well as connecting with local service providers and community groups. We are working on securing a location for Jim to be based from in the Wellington area. This will be determined within the next week at which time we will make public, Jim’s office phone number, fax number, and email address. We are hoping to work with the local community to provide a facilitated Family Support Group as soon as possible. We will be continuing to provide Resource Days while Jim is involved in this transition period. We are also going to be looking at ways to provide supports to North Wellington.
Again, thank you so much to the Wellington community, families and service providers, for the warm welcome.
